Gloria was taken aback. "What is it that is more important?"
"Taking you to the hospital for a check-up, of course," Skylar replied.
She knew Gloria disliked going to the hospital, but she felt more at ease if they went for the scheduled check-up. If anything was wrong, they could address it immediately.
When Gloria heard it was for a check-up, she sighed. "The doctor just came to the house yesterday and said I was fine. Do we really need to go to the hospital?"
Right now, Gloria looked like a child who didn't want to go. Skylar couldn't help but laugh and gently persuade her, "The hospital can do a more thorough examination."
"Mrs. Martin is right. We should go to the hospital," Veronica agreed.
"Alright, alright. I can't argue with the two of you. Let's go then."
Gloria knew deep down that more tests wouldn't make much difference. She knew her own condition the best.
However, now that she knew Joe was still alive, she had the will to keep going. She wanted to stay for as long as possible, to be there for Skylar so that she wouldn't have to face things alone.
After breakfast, the three of them headed to the hospital. On the way, Gloria suddenly recalled the recent appearance of cursed items back in the country and asked curiously, "Has Viola's brother shown up again recently?"
"We have found some cursed items. So, it's likely that he has shown up again. Mr. Gardner Senior has some people looking for him. If there's any news, he will let me know.
"But given the recent incidents, many people in Jipsburg are on high alert and won't be caught off guard easily," Skylar replied.
With so much happening lately, she hadn't had time to think about what was going on in Jipsburg.
Gloria nodded and said, "You've always had a lot to bear. If anything comes up, don't keep it bottled up—talk to me, understand?"
