"I'll give you enough money to ensure you can live a good life for the rest of your life. If you want to further your studies, I'll cover the tuition. But we can never get married," Joe said directly.
He had made this decision right after kissing Skylar yesterday.
If he had never met Skylar, his wife could have been Rosa or anyone else. It didn't matter to him.
But now, he had a strong feeling that his wife couldn't just be anyone. Regardless of whether he was Joe, he wanted Skylar.
Rosa's eyes widened, her face drained of all color as she looked at him in shock. "What did you say?"
"20 million dollars has been deposited into your account," Joe said calmly.
20 million dollars was a lot for a breakup fee. It was certainly enough to ensure one a comfortable life. But that wasn't what Rosa wanted.
Tears started streaming down her face as she said, "Ned, give me a reason. Why? Have you forgotten the promises you made to me? You said you'd treat me well for the rest of our lives. Is this what you mean by treating me well?"
Before her surgery, she had a bad feeling about what he wanted to talk about. She had hoped her suspicions were wrong, that he wouldn't be so heartless.
"I fell for someone else. This is my fault," Joe admitted openly, knowing there was no hiding his feelings.
Rosa's face turned even paler. "Someone else? Who is it? Who did you fall for?"
She had braced herself, thinking he might have regained his memory, but never imagined it would be because he had fallen for someone else.
She had tried her best for the past three years and even had minor cosmetic procedures to appear more attractive. Although she would still look dull next to Skylar…
Wait! It was Skylar, wasn't it?
