She took Zorion's hand and went back to the bedroom in tears.
The farce was finally over.
Madam Quartley had wanted to chase after her, but Qiana held her back in persuasion. "Let her be, Grandma. Yuliana's sad now. No matter what you say, it will be like a stab to the heart. Just let her and Mr. Zorion have a good talk."
Madam Quartley's face was washed with sadness. "I knew things would go bad with how much Yuliana had bottled up. I assumed it would soon all be over, seeing Ruth is due at any time soon. Alas, it's all too much on her."
Qiana's face was filled with worry. "But Grandma, what about Ruth? What if she gets upset when she hears Yuliana had kicked up a fuss?"
Madam Quartley snorted coldly. "So be it if she wants to! I've asked the doctor; he said she's due in a few days. Nothing will affect her baby at this point. Let her do whatever she wants! I don't want her to continue to stir up trouble, or she will drive Yuliana to her death."
After a pause, Madam Quartley asserted, "Anyhow, ignore that woman. Whatever she does, let her be."
Qiana didn't say anything more, but her lips curved into a subtle smile.
The night gradually deepened.
Montez had fallen asleep.
But Qiana was still awake.
Death would befall Ruth and Yuliana the next sunrise. How could she not be nervous?
It was all finally coming to fruition after such long planning!
Within the darkness of the bedroom, a bright glint of light flashed across Qiana's eyes.
Once Yuliana was dead, absolutely nothing would get in her way.
That woman sure was an idiot, not having even the slightest bit of doubt, trusting her so much. She was just courting death!
Qiana smiled.
Her smile looked utterly strange and horrifying in the darkness.
Sadly, no one could see it.
