"Have you had dinner? Alice left some dessert for you. I'll go down and bring it to you." After returning to the room, Byron felt a little flustered before closing the door.
"I'm fine." Athena spoke.
"Byron, you have been away from home all day today. Where have you been?" Athena asked straight to the point.
Byron was slightly startled. "There are some things that need to be dealt with..."
"What kind of things require you to drive out alone at four or five o'clock in the morning?" Athena suddenly raised her voice, "Don't lie to me!"
Byron's expression immediately changed.
He took a step forward, wanting to hold Athena's hand. "Don't be angry. I'll explain."
"Wait a moment." Athena walked straight to the bedside and took over the bottle of medicine that was half-empty. "Why are so many medicines missing? Have you taken them all?"
Byron quickly shook his head. "I didn't feel very well after the fight last night. My hands shook when I was taking the medicine, and the tablets were scattered. I picked them up and flushed them into the toilet."
"Really?" Athena frowned. "These must be rationed. Taking too much at once will cause problems!"
"Yes!" Byron nodded repeatedly. "If you are worried, we can do a blood test immediately!"
In fact, judging from Byron's driving more than 60 miles, Athena had already estimated that he didn't take those medicines.
"It's my fault. I should have told you," Byron then continued to apologize, "Don't be angry..."
"I'm not angry." Athena looked at Byron. "I'm worried about you now!"
"I'm fine." Byron hugged Athena gently. "I went out so early in the morning because a kid I met in Northern Canakey called for help."
"A kid you've met in Northern Canakey?" Athena had never heard of it.
"Yes, the kid who was almost hit by a bicycle that time," Byron said, "I saw him twice later in the Timberlake Manor."
"A guest of the Timberlake family?" Athena asked.
"Yeah." Byron nodded.
"What happened to him? Was he okay?"
"I don't know the details. It was probably a family conflict. When I found him, he was beaten all over."
Athena subconsciously matched Byron's brave act of justice with this incident.
"Those who associate with the Timberlake family are all well-known families. Why are they still having domestic violence?" Athena's expression was full of disgust. "Which family, exactly?"
Byron was stunned for a moment.
Although he had met the boy many times, he never asked his name once.
"I don't know either." Byron shook his head slightly. "I dropped my phone. Otherwise, I could still ask."
