Dahlia and others waved their hands and tried to smooth things over.
Caspian, who had been silent all this time, said lightly, "Evie has done well enough, Mrs. Hansen. You didn't have to worry about her study and job. She is already better than most kids at her age."
Jane was puzzled.
Even Brian looked at Caspian in bafflement.
"Caspian is right." Brian spoke out hurriedly, "You are too hard on Evie, Jane."
Jane regained consciousness.
She smiled stiffly and answered, "Did I really hard on her? Maybe you are right. I have to think it over..."
Evie's appearance seemed to be an interlude that no one cared.
Soon, everyone went back to their unfinished topic.
Men toasted each other.
Women started small talks.
After Evie and Mia left the room...
"Mia, sweetie. You are hugging me too tightly. I almost can't breathe."
Mia didn't let go of Evie.
"Evie, why did Uncle marry a strange woman? What are you going to do if he marries another woman?" Mia was confused by it.
That guy kissed Evie.
Mia thought that meant he loved Evie.
Why did he have to marry someone else in such a short time?
"You worry about too many things, kid!" Evie patted her.
Mia didn't speak, as if she was waiting for Evie's answer.
Evie looked forward and thought for a while. "Mia, there are very few people in this world who have always loved another person. And everyone can continue with their life even if they lost someone important."
Mia put her head on Evie's neck and responded, "I will always love you."
"You precious little thing!"
Evie smiled and kissed her cheek hard.
The kiss made Mia giggle.
Evie looked at her and laughed with her.
That was right. She could continue with her life no matter who left.
Caspian had already moved on.
There was no reason for her to linger in the past. It was a waste of time!
