"No!" Athena said, her tone gentle despite the denial.
"Yes..." Byron nodded with difficulty.
He had also hurt his head. Athena was afraid that he might get into another accident.
She quickly stopped him.
"Don't move your head!" she suddenly yelled.
Byron laughed at this.
Even though Byron had woken up, he still needed plenty of rest.
"Are you tired? Want to sleep more?"
Athena gently rubbed his hand with her thumb.
"Stay with me," Byron spoke with difficulty.
Athena nodded. "I will stay with you."
Byron seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
His hospital bed was big enough.
Athena left a small lamp on and lay down next to him.
Before falling asleep.
Athena reminded him. "Don't sleep too long this time..."
There was more she wanted to say that she would be scared, but she decided not to say it.
Byron nodded.
He reached for Athena's hand. Athena complied, intertwining her fingers with his.
Athena had been haunted by nightmares these days.
Sleeping next to Byron, she had her first peaceful night since the explosion.
She slept soundly and, for a long time, undisturbed.
When she woke up naturally, she looked at the clock across the room and was shocked.
"Is it already ten o'clock?"
She sat up abruptly.
She looked next to her instinctively.
Byron wasn't there!
She quickly got off the bed. Although her knee had improved a lot, it still hurt.
Athena stumbled and almost fell.
Just then, the door to the room opened. Byron was sitting in a wheelchair, and both looked surprised at each other.
"What happened?" Byron's voice was still clear but sounded anxious.
