Athena nodded. "Very good. You are my lifesaver now."
She had watched the footage of that day countless times in the initial two days.
Had Byron not been there that day, she certainly wouldn't have escaped. She would have been done for.
"I don't want to be your lifesaver." Byron furrowed his brows slightly. "And I don't want you to stay with me out of obligation, being nice to me when you don't mean it."
"Weren't you the one who wanted me to stay with you? Why are there so many demands now?" Athena feigned anger.
"So, you're willing to stay with me?" Byron quickly followed up.
Athena looked at him.
With a helpless sigh, she said, "I think we must have owed each other a lot in our previous lives. That's why we can't separate in this life, no matter how disastrous it gets."
"It won't get any worse!"
Despite the pain, Byron embraced Athena by the waist.
"Don't move around!" Athena's heart leaped to her throat.
"I'm fine." Byron held her. "From now on, it will only get better between us. There won't be any more chaos."
"I know. But don't move. Your wounds haven't fully healed. What if they reopen?" Athena pleaded with him anxiously.
Byron obediently followed her instructions.
He quickly laid back down.
"When you were unconscious, I read to you. Did you hear it?" Athena asked.
Byron pondered.
Then he began to laugh.
"No wonder I slept so much. It was because you were reading, wasn't it?"
Athena was speechless.
"Ungrateful!" She grumbled.
Holding her hand, Byron looked at her with soft eyes. "I'm sorry for making you worry by sleeping so long."
Athena felt a lump in her throat.
She quickly changed the subject.
