Inside the hospital room, there was a warm and gentle light.
Byron was a bit tired. He reclined on the hospital bed, watching Athena as she arranged contract documents neatly.
He felt like he was in a daze as if he was back in the past.
Seeing that he hadn't made a sound, Athena looked over with a puzzled look. Their eyes met for an instant. Athena smiled without saying a word, "What are you staring at me for?"
"You look good," Byron answered.
Athena clicked her tongue and sorted the documents that Byron didn't need to handle to one side, and the ones he needed to handle were divided into several parts. "These contracts will be handled based on your recovery status, deciding how many to deal with each day."
"Okay," Byron replied, looking quite amenable. "Stop fussing. Come over and let me hug you."
Athena grumbled. "You're too old to want hugs."
Even though she said that she still walked over.
Byron wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his cheek on her belly. "I'm very fragile now. I need a lot of your hugs."
Athena patted his head.
"There's something I think I should tell you."
"What is it?" Byron said, holding Athena, seeming very comfortable.
"Freya's mom was found dead today in a lake at a suburban wetland park," Athena replied.
Byron was taken aback.
He then let go of Athena. "How did you find out?"
"It was a big fuss. It was trending on social media. When Miss Bates went to identify the body, she was photographed and looked very distressed." Athena continued, "She probably knows you've woken up. Do you want to give her a call?"
As she said this, Athena handed Byron his phone.
