The hotel room was filled with the faint smell of fruity aromatherapy.
Athena looked at Byron. "Don't you know that I hate that part of the past? Why do you keep bringing it up?"
"I want to know why you did that!" Byron's lips were bloodless. His face was pale, but the corners of his eyes were red.
"What do you want to prove with the answer?" Athena laughed speechlessly. "If you want to hear from me that I did it because I love you, then you are too ridiculous."
Byron's eyes turned redder.
"I'm tired of saying this. How much I loved you back then means how odious you were at that time." Athena raised her hand and gently brushed Byron's pale cheek. Byron looked at her, wanting to cry. "If you really want to live with me, don't always think about the past. The past has been completely destroyed by you, and there will never be such a past again."
"I really changed." Byron's voice sounded choked with sobs, and his eyes were filled with humble pleas that shouldn't belong to him.
Athena was silent for a moment.
Out of nowhere, she thought of Freya again.
"She thought of the way Freya looked at her that day in the
Lauries Mansion."
She thought of it again.
A few years ago, Byron yelled at her impatiently many times, saying contemptuously, "You must recognize your position. Don't daydream about what doesn't belong to you. You will never be able to replace the existence of Freya."
"Investigate the matter of the chemical plant as soon as possible." Athena withdrew her hand, got up, and went to Aiden and Mia's room.
In the spacious living room, Byron sat alone on the huge sofa.
He had never suffered such a setback in his life.
He was constantly being rejected after constantly pleasing her.
