George lowered his eyes.
He patted Athena's shoulder again and said, "I got to go."
"George, take care."
Athena didn't say goodbye.
And George didn't want to see her anymore.
He just gave her a warm smile.
Then he finally averted his gaze from Athena's face, walked past her and Byron, and left without looking back.
Athena didn't look back either.
She was happy for George.
She just couldn't restrain her sadness.
Even when she suddenly married Byron and George felt betrayed, he still chose to protect her family at the risk of his life.
Cato and Lien killed many people during their attempt to take over the company.
What would happen to George if they found out that he was pretending to cooperate with them?
He would die silently without her knowing at an unknown time and place.
She would never know that George lost his life for her.
George was too kind.
If she could choose whom to love, she would choose George without hesitation.
"Thea..."
Byron walked up to Athena and called her in a hoarse voice.
"I'm begging you. Don't hurt George anymore!" Athena yelled, looking at him. "We owe him too much. We can never repay him in this lifetime!"
"I won't do it again..." Byron quickly replied.
"I'll go stay with Grandma. You go home and get some rest." Athena went back into the ward. When the door was closed, Byron heard Athena sigh softly.
He slumped down on the bench.
