Not long after Ambrose escaped from the hospital, he received a call from the town. He learned that Edith and Poppy had just left with a few people with their luggage.
It occurred to Ambrose that Archer couldn't do a bone marrow transplant until his parents signed the consent form because he was underage.
Therefore, Ambrose immediately became sure that Edith would come to Girard City with Byron and Athena's men. He cursed secretly, "You black-hearted couple."
Hiding in a dirty back alley, Ambrose immediately called Edith.
Edith was worried about Archer's situation when she received Ambrose's call.
She opened her eyes wide in fright.
She looked up and saw Poppy, who was checking in, and the few people, who escorted them to Girard City.
In Edith's eyes, Ambrose was trash.
He was insidious and cunning and had no bottom line.
Archer followed him to Girard City...
Although Archer had repeatedly said that he was safe and nothing happened, Edith answered the phone.
Edith still connected the phone.
"I thought I had to make ten or twenty calls before you answered!" Ambrose said in surprise.
"Ambrose, don't have designs on Archer and Poppy again!" Edith said through gritted teeth, "You bastard. You are so cruel that you sold your daughter to pay off your gambling debts!"
Normally, Ambrose should curse Edith at this time.
But he didn't and even laughed.
"Edith, didn't I go to gamble because of you? You are so seriously ill and spent in a big way. I want to win more money to treat your illness. Archer is a good student. It will be a pity if he can't go to college like you."
Ambrose knew too well how to hurt her feelings.
Edith gritted her teeth, unbearable painful memories resurfacing in her mind again.
That year, she worked at a shoe factory in the city to earn college tuition.
