Surprised and confused, I looked up at him.
He reached out to pull me over, gently pushed away my sleeves to reveal my wrists, and saw the scratches. He frowned and said, "Didn't you fight back?"
I nodded and said, "Yes, but I cut my nails a few days ago, so it didn't hurt when I scratched her. I just yanked on her hair a few times."
He looked at me, and his handsome face was filled with disappointment. He said, "Since your nails were trimmed, wouldn't you have thrown a punch or a kick?"
I held back my laughter, looked at him, and said, "Come on, I'm not a brute, so I won't throw a punch during a fight. Anyway, I'm fine. Linda splashed a huge basin of water on Rowane, so, we won overall."
He looked at me and said in disgust, "Two of you fought with one lady, and you got injured, even. And it wasn't you who splashed the water! What if Linda wasn't here? Were you planning to let Rowane disfigure you?"
I didn't say anything else. I lowered my head like a child. "I would not dare fight with Rowane if Linda was not here. Rowane is so cruel, so I would never win! So I would not pick a fight, clearly!"
He snorted and ignored me. Then, he turned around and was about to leave.
I followed him, and after a few steps, I squatted down, watching him walk away. Internally, I felt a twinge of pleasure.
He took a few steps and probably didn't realize what I was doing behind him. Then, he turned and his eyes fell on me. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "What's wrong?"
"I'm injured. I can't walk!" I squatted on the ground. Petulantly, I pretended to be injured and did not move.
He grasped his forehead and said helplessly, "Tell me now, what should I do?"
I thought for a moment with my head tilted and said, "Carry me away!"
His face fell and his eyes were full of helplessness. "Is your leg hurt?"
I shook my head. "No!"
"Hmm," he said, "Then, why should I carry you?"
