She looked up at me leisurely and raised her eyebrows. In front of her was the bowl of noodles that she had almost finished. Her makeup was starting to cake in the creases of her face. She looked horrendous. "You're right. However, after calculating the time, this matter should be over now. Hendrix should be on his way to pick you up now."
No one would be happy to be tricked for no reason. I held my breath and knew that there was no point venting my anger. So I looked at her and said, "You've planned well. I've underestimated you."
She shrugged her shoulders and smiled faintly. "Don't be angry. This will happen more in the future!"
I nodded and said, "That's true. But, I'd better remind you that next time when you buy liquid foundation, try to get the more expensive ones. After all, you have made a lot of money. Also, as a woman, I just wanna kindly remind you that you should take care of your skin. You are less than forty years old, but you look almost sixty. Do you know why Hendrix isn't interested in you? Because your face makes him lose his appetite. Having to look at your face every single day is torture for any man. I struggle to spend even one day with you."
"You..." Her face twitched in anger. She looked at me with hatred and gritted her teeth, "Arianna, I should have killed you back then, so that I won't have to be insulted by you now."
All women care a lot about their appearance. No matter how old she was, once someone attacked her, she would break down. It was the same for Dahlia.
Looking at her uncontrollable face, I said calmly, "You don't have to be angry. What I said is true. Have you never looked at yourself in the mirror? You have the money to buy those designer clothes. It's better to buy skincare products, go on a diet and lose weight. You are fat and ugly. No man will want to be with you."
She hurled the bowl of noodles at me in anger. I dodged it. She was so angry that she picked up the fruit knife on the table and came towards me. It seemed that she was completely furious.
"Bang!" The door was suddenly kicked open and Hendrix rushed in. He saw that Dahlia was about to stab me with a knife. He picked up the vase behind the door and threw it at Dahlia. Hendrix clearly had perfect aim. The vase crashed against her and caused her to collapse onto the ground immediately.
After a moment, Hendrix pulled me into his arms and asked, "Are you hurt?"
I shook my head. I saw a few policemen coming in behind him. Some of them helped Dahlia up from the ground and handcuffed her.
Dahlia widened her eyes and shouted at the police incredulously, "What are you doing? What is this for?"
One of the policemen said, "Sorry, you are involved in kidnapping with intention to hurt people. We have the right to detain and punish you!"
"Don't bullsh*t me! I didn't hurt her at all. She is still perfectly fine. How can you all be certain that I hurt her?" Dahlia roared angrily. She struggled against her handcuffs.
The police officer barked his orders, "Even if you did not succeed, it is still an offense! You must come with us!"
Dahlia suddenly looked at me, bewildered. She said in disbelief, "Did you do that on purpose? Right? I've really underestimated you, Arianna."
I looked at her and leaned into Hendrix's embrace. I looked at her and said, "Dahlia, I treated you as a friend. I never thought you would drug me and kidnap me, and even prepare to hurt me. This time, I won't show any mercy to you. I hope that the law will punish you."
"You are spouting nonsense!" She was so angry that she screamed and was soon taken away by the police.
