My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1288

She looked at me maliciously, her eyes full of hatred and anger. I was stunned. I thought she had forgiven me. I made a deal with Sebastian. I knew that I would never be able to redeem myself for what I did to her in the past. So I made a deal with Sebastian, asking him to bring us back to the country and to hire the best doctor to remove the drugs in their wombs. I thought she had forgiven me.

But then again, why should she? She could have avoided being hurt, but my mistake cost her everything. She hated me and wanted to take revenge on me. It made perfect sense.

I didn't know when she left, but when Hendrix found me, he noticed that I was acting strange. He frowned and asked, "What happened?"

I shook my head, held onto him, and pulled him into my arms. I took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry, I was wrong, I know I was wrong, but I really don't know what I should do now!?"

"What's wrong?" Hendrix asked while holding me in his arms. I was obviously not in my best frame of mind at that moment.

I didn't know how to explain it to Hendrix, so I just leaned against Hendrix's chest and shook my head.

Hendrix took me back to the villa. I laid on the bed. I was depressed, and I was surrounded by disappointment and powerlessness. People always liked to defend themselves, finding countless reasons to tell themselves that they were not wrong, but most of the time, mistakes can't be undone.

I was also constantly comforting myself. I told myself that I had brought her back to the country and had forgiven her evil behavior of losing my passport at the airport, and forgiven her for hurting me several times. However, none of this could hide the fact that she was indeed injured because of me.

Lying on the bed for a long time, I saw no sign of Hendrix. I got up and went to the study to look for him, and I saw him staring at the computer. He heard me coming, so he looked up at me and asked, "Are you feeling better?"

I nodded and sat down beside him. Then I looked at the computer screen, and saw the surveillance video. I was stunned and said, "Didn't you say that the hospital cameras had already been broken? How can it still work?"

He looked at me and said, "I found a technician to repair them. The surveillance tapes in the lift and outside the morgue have both been restored. Although both Kaleb and Dahlia wore masks, they can be identified from the footage."

I hesitated for a moment and looked at him. Then I said, "What are you going to do next?" He had put in so much effort in restoring the surveillance footage, with the purpose to incriminate Dahlia. As Kaleb was already dead, this video could convict Dahlia of collaborating with intent of murder. Although it could not give her a life sentence, it would be sufficient to put her in prison for a few years!

Hendrix looked at the computer sternly. He paused for a moment and said, "It's too dangerous to let her roam free. She should be arrested and imprisoned for a few years."

I stayed silent. After a long while, I looked at him and said, "Can you not hand these over to the police?"

Stunned for a moment, he frowned at me. "Why?"

"I owe her something. In Myanway, she was hurt because of me. She was always targeting me because of what happened in Myanway." I didn't know whether it was right or wrong, but if I convict her now, I was afraid that I would suffer from guilt for the rest of my life. After all, this feud between the both of us started from me, even though I wasn't the one who caused her harm.
