I pursed my lips and thought for a moment before saying, "You know, I don't care if you like Hendrix. I am confident that he will always love me. I am surprised you found a suitable boyfriend so quickly."
She shrugged and said, "It's no surprise. Every girl has the dream of marrying into a rich and powerful family. I am no exception. There are plenty of noble families in Jarold City other than the Roberts, so I decided to change my target. He is the third son of the Shelley family. Although he is no match to Hendrix, he's good enough. At least he buys me houses and cars. In fact, after I experienced what it's like to be rich, I know that we humans should earn as much money as possible. It is especially so for beautiful women. It's much faster to earn money as a beautiful young woman."
I frowned. I didn't agree with her views, so I kept silent.
She looked at me and said indifferently, "Are you looking down on me?"
I shook my head, "Everyone has their own aspirations. Everyone's pursuit is different. I have no right to look down on you."
She shrugged and showed a smirk, "Well, it seems that you are not so annoying after all. I won't fight with you for a man. I don't want us to be enemies in the future. As such, you don't have to be so on guard with me!"
I shrugged and kept my mouth shut.
After watching her enter the elevator elegantly, I couldn't help but shrug. People had their own ways of living. An ambitious girl like Rowane would definitely try her best to get more since she was not born into a wealthy family.
She was beautiful and had enough ability to reach her goals. However, the fact that she was relying on a man seemed reasonable and unreasonable at the same time. But no matter which way she chose, she would eventually live a comfortable life.
I suddenly thought of Valerie. They behave similarly to each other. When it came to money, everyone had their own goals. Perhaps it was greed, or perhaps they wanted to provide a better future for their children. No matter which one it was, it seemed right. As long as one did not violate the law, why couldn't they follow their hearts to gain more power?
"Mrs. Roberts, you're here!" I heard a voice behind me and retracted my thoughts. Seeing that it was Estella, I nodded slightly and smiled, "Yes, I came with Hendrix. Are you just returning from lunch?"
Estella nodded and asked, "Have you had lunch?"
I shook my head, "I just returned from the hospital. Not yet!"
After parking the car, Hendrix came over, "Let's go!"
Estella quickly added, "Mr. Roberts, you haven't eaten yet. Why don't I go out and buy some food for you both? What would you like to eat, Mrs. Roberts?"
I shook my head, "There's no need..."
"Mrs. Roberts, you don't have to be so polite. I am Mr. Roberts' secretary. These are within my duties!" Without waiting for me to refuse, she said and smiled at Hendrix, "Right, Mr. Roberts?"
Hendrix didn't speak much to outsiders, so he merely mumbled a 'yes' and tugged at my arm, "Let her go and buy some food. What would you like to eat?"
I was stunned and looked at Estella, who was smiling. I thought about it and still didn't know what I wanted to eat, so I said, "Anything is fine. Thank you!"
