I nodded and left the bridal shop alongside Yana and the others. Ethan went ahead to get the car. Then, Yana grabbed hold of my arm, asking, "Did you agitate her just now?"
"Not really," I shrugged. "I was merely sharing common sense. I' ve no objection to Aaron wanting to get married. However, he intends to settle down, and so should marry a girl who can stay with him for life. He's annoying at times, but he's my brother after all. Also, I know that he's insecure and afraid of being lonely. Thus, he's very determined to have a family of his own. I always thought you'd be the girl who would settle down with him. Unfortunately, he didn't cherish your love. Eunice is not a good match for him, and neither is she a good match for the Reid family. So, I have to speak up, even if that makes me seem like the bad person here."
Yana raised her head slightly and took a deep breath. Then, she said smilingly, "Well, I guess there's no such thing as perfect compatibility. As long as Aaron truly loves her and thinks she's a devoted partner, nothing else matters. Not any outsiders' opinion anyway. Arianna, I understand that you care for your brother. Nonetheless, we're
outsiders to their relationship. We will never know what they truly feel."
I was flabbergasted as I thought she would agree with me. I paused and gave her a surprised look. "So, Yana, you really got over Aaron?" I asked.
She flashed a bitter smile and said, "It's going to be challenging, considering that we've been in a relationship for quite a while. I guess I’ve grown more level- headed. Ever since meeting Ethan, I know what I truly want. Over the years, I clung to the relationship with Aaron and refused to let go. We've been through countless quarrels and have broken each other' s hearts on numerous occasions. I reckon it's time to let it go. Life is a long journey after all. I should stop wallowing in sadness. What's more, life is short. I have to enjoy it to the fullest extent!"
Then, she chuckled lightly and continued, "Hendrix and you are lucky. How I wish to be in a relationship like yours. Against all odds, both of you are still together to face life's trials and tribulations. How wonderful is that? There are all sorts of people in the world. Everybody’s different. Some are happy while others are not. Both of you are blessed indeed and should endeavor to get on well with each other in the days to come."
As Ethan drove over, Yana grabbed hold of my arm and nudged me into the car while we were still in conversation. It seemed that many people go through life without knowing what they truly wanted.
Suddenly, I felt a warm sensation in my palm. It turned out that Yana put a hand warmer in my hand. She smiled and explained, "Ethan worries that we may catch a cold, so he asked somebody to buy these for us. It's cold. Hold it to keep yourself warm."
I nodded. I looked at Ethan and said, "Thank you!"
Ethan flashed an awkward smile and said, "You're welcome. Yana's health is rather frail. Her hands and feet are cold practically all the time. Girls tend to catch colds easily, so you should keep yourself warm."
Yana laughed and said, "Ethan, you must have dated many girlfriends to know such facts about ladies. Should I thank your ex-girlfriends then?"
Ethan immediately parked the car by the roadside. He turned around and gave Yana a serious look. "Yana, I've never dated any girls before you," he clarified. "I remembered you holding a warm pack in your arms when we first met. It was spring in April then. That's when I knew that you were intolerant of the cold. Besides that, you also always have woollen blankets and gloves in your car. I know that you can take good care of yourself but I want to look after you and make you feel that you can count on me. It's not that I’m good at looking after girls in general! It's merely because I want to take care of yOU -|-^jₛ hₐₛ nothing to do with others!"
