Then, she headed straight for the kitchen even though I insisted otherwise. Sebastian had heard all that Hermione had babbled. As soon as she entered the kitchen, he stared at me motionlessly.
I refused to be bothered by his gaze. I lowered my head to check my phone messages. It was Hendrix. He asked me where I was. Not wanting him to worry unnecessarily, I replied, "I'm out tonight."
Sebastian took my phone away the minute I sent the message. He gave me a dismal look and said, "Well then since you' re here, please play along well. So, you're pregnant, huh?"
I pursed my lips. I felt as though I was looking at a pervert. "Don't you have a girlfriend?" I said. "Why didn't you bring Naomi here? Oh, I get it. She’s too good for you. It seems that you're sensible enough to not bring her here and give her false hope."
He seemed to shrug off my sarcasm. Instead, he looked at me and asked, "Is Hendrix aware that you're pregnant?"
Was Sebastian crazy? Only because Hermione was around, I held back from yelling at him for being such a lunatic. "Hendrix is the father. How could he not know that I'm pregnant?!"
Sebastian flashed a vile smirk. Gradually, his gaze turned malicious in a way that sent chills down my spine. I could not take it any longer and decided to make a move.
It was at this moment that Hermione came back. Carrying a bowl of soup, she was all smiles. "Drink this soup," she said. "It's nourishing. When I was pregnant with Sebastian, I especially enjoyed this soup! Give it a try!"
I stared at the soup. I had lost my appetite during my quarrel with Sebastian. But Hermione was so solicitous. I had no idea how to reject her, so I decided to drink it.
After a few sips, I looked at her and said, "Mrs. Milton, that’s delicious. Thank you so much!"
She smiled and said, "You’re welcome. I can have it prepared daily and get Sebastian to bring it over to you. Be sure to visit me as often as you can. Sebastian’s busy practically all year round, so no one keeps me company. After the baby's birth, I guess my place would turn lively."
At this moment, a thought seemed to cross her mind. She looked at me and said, "Are you guys planning your wedding already? Don't let this slip your mind."
She looked at Sebastian and said seriously,
"Focus on organizing the wedding. I'm sure her parents love her dearly, so don't be frivolous about the wedding. Ask me if you aren't familiar with the intricacies of a wedding. Above all, make sure it's formal and grand!"
Sebastian nodded and said smilingly, "Mom, alright. I'm a grown-up and I know what to do. You don’t have to keep reminding me!"
"Oh, Sebastian..."
They were so affectionate to one another, and I was surprised to see this side of Sebastian. At this moment, Hermione seemed a little sleepy, possibly because she had been chatting for so long. Sebastian pulled me over and told me that we could take our leave. So, we bade his mother goodbye.
We left the teahouse and got into his car. Not long after that, I said, "Drop me off here, I'll take a taxi."
He continued driving and showed no signs of stopping. As he ignored me and stared at the road ahead, I repeated, "Mr. Milton, would you please drop me off here? I'll go back by myself!"
