My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1392

The man shook his head and said with a smile, "No problem, no problem, you guys can just take her along with you as long as you wish."

The woman snuck a glance at us but said nothing. It seemed that she had no authority to say anything in this house.

Sheridan had not spoken a word. After we finished speaking, he looked at the man and said, "Can you please help me find a set of clean women's clothes?"

The man paused for a moment before nodding repeatedly and said, "Okay, no problem. Wait for a second!" Then he looked at the woman and said, "Go and get them some clothes."

The woman got up and went into another room. Bobbie was chatting with the man, and my eyes fell on the group of children who were eating at the table.

They were wearing clothes that didn't fit them well. Some of them wore a few layers of dirty T-shirts, and some were wearing ragged sweaters. It was clear that they were all wearing clothes just purely to keep themselves warm. It seemed that they already had on all the clothes they could wear, however, it wasn't enough to keep them warm.

My gaze fell on the little girl who was squeezed into a corner and paused for a moment. The child seemed to be only not more than three years old. Her cheeks were flushed due to the cold. Her mouth was dirty from eating and her nose was snotty probably because of the cold weather. She wiped her nose with her sleeve, but she didn't wipe it clean enough, leaving a trail of mucus on both her mouth and her spoon.

I couldn't help but frown slightly. The woman returned with a set of clothes in her hand. Then, she looked at me and said, "You can wear this."

I nodded and thanked her with a smile. Then I looked at her and said, "Can I borrow a pair of dry shoes from you?" I had dirtied my shoes and pants when I came just now. It was really uncomfortable to wear wet shoes in such a cold winter.

The woman nodded and went to look in the closet for a long time before she took out a pair of new cloth shoes. However, looking from the style and appearance, it seemed that she had sewn this by herself.

Seeing that the shoes were too thin, Sheridan frowned and asked, "Is there anything warmer than this?"

The woman paused for a moment and shook her head, "This is all I have!"

I took the shoes with a smile and said my thanks. Then I changed into them and sat down beside the stove to warm up. Hendrix called me. He had already called me several times, but I couldn't pick up because the signal was really bad. I could only send him a message informing him that I would not be returning home tonight.

Seven or eight hours of driving was really too long.

Bobbie talked to the man for a while, then looked at me and said, "Miss Reid, you can go and take a look at that child. If everything is okay, we will take Abby to Asherton tomorrow. In addition, you need to transfer your daughter from the hospital in Jarold City to Asherton. Abby has no birth certificate or identification at the moment, so we can only perform the operation in Asherton for the time being."

I was still a little confused. The man got up, walked over to the youngest girl and wiped her nose with his sleeve. Then, he looked at me and laughed, "Miss Reid, look at Abby. Although she's still young, she's very obedient and sensible. Also, she's not afraid of pain. Take a look at her. Are you satisfied with her?"

Abby didn't know why the adults were talking about her like this. She just gave me a blank stare, looking a little confused. She gave her father the same bewildered stare. Probably because she wasn't full yet, she picked up the spoon and stuffed a mouthful of cabbage into her mouth. In doing so, she spilled vegetable soup all over herself.
