My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1406

She said in a weak voice, "I have a congenital heart disease. My heart was failing and we were told that I would be able to continue living for a long time if I managed to find a suitable heart for transplant. But it's not easy to find a suitable heart at all. My father had been searching for many years before he finally found a suitable one. The people told my father that she was sick and could only live for a few years. After she died, she could transplant her heart to me. So my father adopted her. She lived with me for many years and stayed by my side throughout my lonely and difficult days. But my condition was getting worse day by day. Even so, she was thriving and her health got better."

She smiled faintly, "It was only then that my father realized he was tricked. She was not ill at all. In fact, she was a very healthy child. She was abandoned by her parents, so they found her and managed to get us to adopt her. My father didn't want to do anything illegal, but I was dying. He didn't have a choice. She was the only one who could save me. So when I fainted the last time before my operation, my father tampered with the car she was sitting in."

"When she died, her body wasn't even intact. My father told me that it was an accident, and I kept telling myself that was the truth. But I didn't expect that the longer time passed, the more the memory of her would torment me."

Tears streamed down from the corners of her eyes while she spoke, "Don't make the same mistake. Let that child go!"

I pursed my lips. No wonder she had such a big reaction when she saw Abby.

A call came in. It was Valerie, and I answered the phone. Valerie said in quite a happy tone, "Where are you, Arianna? The examination is done. That child is crying now. Where are you? Come quickly."

I muttered a reply and looked at Wendy on the hospital bed. Then I said, "This is not really a big operation. It won't kill the child. I have no choice. I just want my daughter to live. If there is any other way, I will gladly take it."

She was crying a little uncontrollably. I could only ask the nurses to keep an eye on her before I went back to check on Abby.

I headed back upstairs, and saw that Abby had finished the examination. She looked at me with red eyes and said, "Madam Reid, it hurts here!" She pointed between her crotch.

The doctor didn't extract any bone marrow. He only extracted a little blood from her for testing. I held her and said, "Mmm, I know. I will buy you something delicious to eat later."

Valerie glanced back and forth between me and Abby before saying, "I just got out of Anne's ward. Quickly go and take a look at her."

I nodded and went into the ward with her. The doctor was saying something to my father. Anne was lying on the bed. The anesthesia hadn't worn off yet.

Seeing that the doctor was leaving, I stopped him and said, "Doctor, can I know how bone marrow and kidney transplant surgeries will affect the donor?"

The doctor looked at me and said with a nod, "Extracting the bone marrow and the hematopoietic stem cells will not do much harm to the donor. It will only hurt a little. However, it will have an impact if it is a kidney transplant. Some of the organs in the human body may seem useless, but have an impact on our health if removed. For example, we have ten fingers on our hands, and losing one of them will not kill you. But after all, you are missing one finger, which will still cause inconvenience in your daily life."
