My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1416

The elderly man looked at me and said with a smile, "No, I can't. Don't underestimate this place. There are a lot of cars coming and going in a day. The boss had instructed that the cars outside are not allowed in without his orders. I have to obey his orders. This place may look desolate, but it's still important for me to keep guard."

I asked curiously, "Why are they still guarding this abandoned factory? Are there still people working inside?"

The old man shook his head and said, "I don't know. There are only a few designated cars which come here all the time. Those who are allowed to enter occasionally are informed in advance. It is really strange because there isn't any working office in this factory, but these people always come and go. I have gone in a few times and found nothing. I heard that the boss has set up a live broadcast room here. Usually, there are some girls or children coming in to work, but I can't see them clearly because I have bad eyesight."

I nodded slightly. It seemed that they were being extremely careful. On the surface, it seemed that they were using an inconspicuous elderly man to guard the factory. But in fact, they had very strict control over the people who were allowed to enter and leave. This meant that very few outsiders had the chance to enter this place.

However, since I knew about this operating room, it would not be difficult for me to find out about the rest.

Bobbie drove over and called me over. After getting into the car, I chatted briefly with him, but didn't say much.

It was already afternoon when I got back to town. My stomach was growling because I hadn't eaten for a whole day. Perhaps, it was because I was pregnant. I walked into a restaurant and took out my cell phone to call Hendrix after ordering my meal. This was when I realized that there were several missed calls on my phone.

It was my habit to switch my cell phone into silent mode when I was busy. I had missed some calls from Hendrix and Wendy.

Hendrix must have called to ask if I had eaten lunch. I felt that it wasn't anything important, so I decided to call Wendy first.

Before I could dial her number, Hendrix called me. I answered the phone and said with a faint smile, "Mr. Roberts, I'm really flattered that you took the time to call me even though you are so busy."

He snorted and said, "You really know how to change the topic. It seems that you didn't eat on time. Why didn't you answer the phone just now? What were you doing?"

This man was getting more and more childish. I had to report my whereabouts to him at all times now.

I answered nonchalantly, "Haven't I told you? I had an appointment with Bobbie to go and take a look at the operating room. I just came back from there and arrived at the restaurant. Don't worry, I'm not starving our child."

He snorted indignantly, but didn't scold me, "Didn't I prepare breakfast for you this morning? Didn't you eat it?"

I touched my nose and said guiltily, "I ate them, but my stomach has taken care of them already. So, I'm going to eat more for lunch." I had left the house in a hurry in the morning, so I actually didn't have time to eat the breakfast he made.

He sighed and felt a little helpless, "You are already a mother. You should learn how to take care of yourself. Or do you want me to hire a nanny for you?"

I hurriedly refused, "There's no need for the time being. I'm currently only two months pregnant, so I can still take care of myself. I'm really not used to having so many unfamiliar people at home. Let's discuss this again after Anne gets better and I'm farther along in my pregnancy. What do you think?"
