Hendrix looked at Jarred and asked, "Have the Miltons agreed to this marriage?"
Jarred was a refined man, calm and introverted. Hearing his words, he just replied lightly, "This is between Nerissa and me. The Milton family doesn't need to intervene."
Milton family?
There were only a few families who went by Milton in Jarold City. Was it the Milton family that I was thinking of?
Hendrix's lips curled, but I could not see any emotion on his face. He said, "Let's wait till after the New Year. It's too early to make a decision now."
Nerissa was as baffled as me by this exchange. She said doubtfully, "Hendrix, what are you talking about? There's nothing unreasonable between me and Mr. Milton. I thought you wouldn't object. What's wrong?"
"Arianna and I still have things to take care of. Let's talk about this again after the New Year. Aunt Nerissa, you should find out more about which Milton family you're marrying into. It might be good for you to learn more about the situation," Hendrix replied curtly. He didn't seem to want to say anything more and dragged me away from the scene.
In the car, I suggested, "Let's go to the pet store and buy Carney a Golden Retriever. He should be happy to have a furry friend to play with."
He nodded and started the car.
After driving for a while, I looked at him uncertainly before asking, "Hendrix, Jarred is from the Milton family, right?"
