Chloe glared at me. "Arianna, what do you want ?"
I fixed my gaze on her. "Didn't you say you were doing business? Don't you want my business?"
"You are a woman. If you want to humiliate me, you don't have to do that. What you're doing now is just a waste of your time. If you hate me because of your child, I'm very sorry and I've also been punished. You don't have to humiliate me anymore," Her tone was calm and there was no sign of her giving up.
I sighed helplessly. "Come on, just show me where you live. It shouldn't be far, right? Since you know that you are at fault for what you did to Anne, you can't refuse any of my requests, can you?"
She glowered at me. After a long pause, she gave up and said, "Come with me!"
She took Shirley and I to an alley. After a while, I stopped and asked, "Don't you think you should help me?" Shirley was intoxicated. It was too hard for me to carry her on my own.
Chloe gave me a look, pursed her lips, and said lightly, "I can't help you. After several chemotherapy sessions, I struggle to even walk by myself. I can't help you carry her. Believe it or not, it's the truth."
I was stupefied. Then, I pursed my lips, shrugged my shoulders, and responded lightly, "Okay, then, lead the way!"
I couldn't possibly force her to carry Shirley with me, could I?
When we finally arrived at her place, I looked around and sighed. "You know, you can always go back to Ucrebury. Dr. Hammer will find a way to cure you. You will only get worse if you continue staying at a place like this."
She poured me a glass of water with a cold expression on her face. "In the end, I will still die. It's better to die at a place where I am willing to stay in. I've been so determined my whole life. I wanted to be successful, but I failed. Thus, I pray that I can be born into this city in my next life, so that I can be closer to the things I want."
