I didn't want to blame my miscarriage on her, but she had triggered me. I knew that I, too, should be responsible for the death of my child, but she kept accusing me shamelessly. I couldn't stand the fact that she kept accusing me as if she were on some moral high ground. I was flooded with hate and resentment towards her.
I'd once thought of her as my best friend and that we could've been best friends forever.
Tears kept streaming down her face. She tugged on my clothes with both hands and opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Finally, after a while, she said, "What do you want me to do? I'm willing to do anything for you, as long as you hand over the contract to Sebastian. I know I made a mistake, but it is all in the past now. Arianna, tell me, what should I do? I really have no idea how to pay for my sins. I just wish that I can help the person I love to get past these difficult times!"
Looking at her, I suddenly realized that I had never really understood her. This cheerful, chatty girl suddenly seemed like a stranger to me.
She was no longer the Naomi I knew. Staring at her made my heart sink. Could love actually blind someone to this extent?
"Naomi, how much do you love Sebastian?" I asked. I didn't even know why I asked such a question.
She was stupefied and replied, "I love him very much, I can't live without him."
"Can you be sure that he loves you back? How certain are you that he loves you back?" I stared at her with a sharp look.
She was a little puzzled. She seemed to be baffled by my question.
After hesitating for a moment, she looked at me and answered, "He loves me. He said that he loves me. I believe what he said. Arianna, why are you asking me this? He loves me."
I sneered. "Well, since you are so certain, then let's make a bet. From today onward, we are no longer friends. You can stop begging now. Since you are so certain that he loves you, then come over tonight. I'll show you what kind of person he truly is."
At this point, I looked at her and said with a bit of irony, "If I'm not mistaken, Sebastian hasn't slept with you yet, right?"
"You..." Her face suddenly flushed red, and she looked at me with some surprise. But after a moment, she calmed down. "You know perfectly well that he is not physically capable, and don't try to provoke me with this. It is not a must for couples to be physical, and he has been treating me well recently."
"Are you certain that it is because he is not physically capable? Have you ever wondered why he can't do it after so many times, and yet he is not willing to get it checked? Perhaps he is not aroused by you simply because he has no feelings for you?"
She glared at me. Her breathing was a little rapid and her eyes were red and swollen. "Arianna, you don't have to provoke me like this. I know him the best, and I know how much he loves me."
