The next day.
I woke up after a night of tossing and turning and discovered that Hendrix was still lying next to me. He opened his eyes, and his warm and gentle gaze fell on me. When he saw that I was awake, he curled his lips into a smile. "Awake?"
I nodded and looked at him, letting out an audible laugh. Then, I moved closer to him and said in a hoarse voice, "I dreamed of you last night. I thought you were on a business trip again, and how disappointed I would be if I can't see you first thing in the morning. But unexpectedly, when I woke up, you were still by my side. I'm so happy you're here."
I didn't know how these words sounded in my head, but after I uttered them out, I heard a faint chuckle beside me. "From now on, you will accompany me on all my business trips. I'm also very disappointed when I wake up in the morning, and you're not there with me. I always feel like something's missing when I can't hug you to sleep."
I nodded, buried my head in his arms, and said in a muffled voice, "Sebastian has been dealt with. Rowane is in charge of everything in Asherton, so you no longer have to travel there. You are also not needed in Oakland anymore, so you can finally stay in Jarold City. By the way, Sawyer is getting married soon."
He nodded and looked at me with a piercing gaze. "When Sawyer is done with his wedding, we should hold one of our own. A wedding that belongs to me and you. What do you think?"
I was taken aback and said, "Haven't we already held our wedding? It's very troublesome to hold another one. Why don't we go for a vacation instead, after the weather gets better? It's been a long time since we last traveled together."
He smirked. "Of course, but we still have to hold the wedding!"
With my arms around him, I squinted my eyes and said, "Let's talk about it later. If we hold a wedding now, it would be considered as our marriage anniversary."
As I spoke, I leaned against his chest and wanted to doze off. However, when I reached for my phone, I saw that it was already noon. I stared at him and asked, "Are you hungry?"
Hendrix raised his eyebrows and asked, "What about you? Are you hungry?"
I nodded. "A little, but there aren't many groceries in the house. The housekeeper isn't here today, either. What should we get for lunch?"
After giving it some thought, I said, "Why don't we go to Aunt Nerissa's place for lunch? She recently bought a house in the city, and it's quite close to Jarold University. So why don't we go to the Jarold University library to read some books after we've had our lunch?"
He nodded, raised his hand to brush my nose, and said in a doting tone, "Okay, anything you say!"
I sat up from the bed, and it took me some time before I was fully awake. Hendrix had already finished washing up and had already gotten dressed.
He glanced at me and asked, "Are you still drowsy?"
I shook my head. "No. Why aren't you wearing the black coat?" This was the first time I was seeing him in clothes that were not black in color. I was a little shocked.
He picked me up from the bed and carried me into the bathroom. He had already squeezed out the toothpaste in advance and handed me the toothbrush. He smiled. "Do you not like me wearing clothes in other colors?"
I shook my head and answered in a muffled voice through the toothbrush, "I like it. It's just that you look very handsome in other colors. I also have to get dressed up, and only then can we look like a perfect couple."
