Hendrix was true to his word and dismissed all the bodyguards in the afternoon. Minnie and the other servants quickly returned to their original positions, and the villa was restored to normal.
At the end of April, I officially took my first bar examination.
I was pregnant for two months, and my belly had started showing. But because of the cold weather, I put on a coat when I went out, so it was not obvious. Hendrix was afraid that the people in the examination room would be rash, so he walked me to the examination room until he was stopped outside by the examiner. Only then, he left reluctantly to wait outside.
I hadn't taken a test for years. Being in my seat, looking at my ID and the stationery, I took a deep breath and let myself relax.
"Hello." Suddenly, there was a gentle male voice beside me. I turned my face and saw a young man standing next to me with a bright smile. Our eyes met, and he nodded at me with a polite, friendly attitude.
"Are you talking to me?" I pointed at myself and pursed my lips.
"Yeah." The man had a smile on his face, and had good manners. There was some distance between us, so I did not feel awkward. He said, "You seem to have taken my seat."
The smile froze on my face, and my face instantly turned red. "Isn't this seat 021?"
We stared down at the label pasted at the corner of the table. I realized I had mistaken the number 7 printed as 1!
I quickly picked up my things and got up from the seat to make room for him. "Sorry, I read it wrong. Please have your seat."
The man smiled and was not in a hurry. He raised his hand and pointed to the seat labelled 021 next to him. "It's okay. Seat 021 is here."
I couldn't tell the difference between 1 and 7. I had embarrassed myself in front of a foreigner.
