He was talking about Charles. During the New Year holiday, Charles had needed to do a lot of work inspections. We hadn't seen him when we visited the Reid Manor.
I laughed at him and said, "You don't have to come in person. Just call me and I'll take Anne there."
Aaron looked ahead and a faint smile appeared. "To come in person means you're perfectly safe."
"What?" I turned my head curiously as I felt that what he'd said was strange, but I couldn't tell how and where.
"Nothing." Aaron let out a long sigh and looked up in the rear view mirror to tease Anne. "I missed Anne, so I want to see her earlier. Of course I should come in person. Right, Anne?"
"That's right!" Anne couldn't stop smiling. Naturally, I didn't say anything else, and let Aaron take us to the Reid Manor.
Aaron was driving in a hurry. It took only 40 minutes during the evening rush to reach the Reid Manor, rather than the normal one-hour journey.
Charles doted on girls, and never stopped smiling when he saw Anne.
In the blink of an eye, it was already half past eight at night. Usually at this time, I should've been coaxing Anne to sleep. After playing for so long, she didn't want her dear grandfather anymore. She then stuck to me and was rubbing her eyes frequently with her tiny hands, looking really sleepy.
I changed my body posture to make Anne more comfortable and was ready to go back home. "Aaron, please have the driver to drive us back. It's getting a little too late."
Just as Aaron was about to get up, Charles, who was standing beside him, stopped him. "Hey, it's not safe to go back now. You can sleep here tonight. Since tomorrow is the weekend, let the child stay with me for two more days. Aaron, have someone clean up the guest room."
"Okay." Aaron stood up while getting support from the sofa.
At this moment, Emma suddenly appeared at the entrance of the staircase. She poked her head toward the stairs and shouted, "The room is ready. Arianna, quickly bring the child to sleep."
