I wanted to tell the truth. It would be riskier to have one extra person know that the divorce was fake. I could only go all in.
"It doesn't matter." I put down the tableware in my hand, took a napkin from the table, and wiped the corners of my mouth slowly. "Do you know how scared and helpless I was, when I almost lost the two children in my belly? Yet, he didn't care about anything. Not only did he make a concession, but also completely offended the Forbes family by breaking Matt's hands. I don't want to accompany his madness again. I don't want to be a failed mother again."
Freya fell into silence. After a long while, she sighed and spoke. "Have you really thought about it?"
"The divorce agreement has been signed, how could it be fake?" Those words were soft and powerless, but they made me look indifferent, as if I had really given up everything and could not be moved.
Freya somehow believed it. She lowered her beautiful eyes and exclaimed, "It's so hard for you to be together. How could this be? Why did you just end up like this..."
She seemed to be very sad when she talked to herself. If it weren't for knowing that she and Zachary's relationship was firm, I would almost have thought that she was hurt in her relationship and had come to seek comfort from me.
Knowing that she was kind, I did not want to make her worry, so I reached out and patted her with the back of her hand. "Don't worry about me. No matter what, for the sake of the children, I will live a good life."
Freya raised her head and her gaze was a little mysterious. "You seem to be a different person today."
She was born smart. Her dazzling eyes were wide open, as if she could read people's minds.
With a guilty conscience, I raised my eyebrows and turned my face to the side. "Maybe I was frightened. I didn't have a good rest last night..."
