As I stood up, Emma and Freya followed me with the child in their arms.
The family was even more worked up when they saw the baby. "Where is the baby! Give the baby back!"
I turned around, took the child from Emma's arms, and asked the woman who rushed to the front, "What evidence do you have to prove that the child is yours?"
Freya probably felt that I looked amiss, so she moved forward to push me with her elbow and asked, "Are you alright?"
I frowned and shook my head at her, indicating for her to calm down.
"My son has a birthmark on his right foot. It can't be wrong!" the woman who looked weak said in a fierce tone.
I changed position and held the baby in my arms. We checked the baby's little feet, which still looked purple and blue. I really saw the birthmark that the woman had mentioned.
Freya and Emma came over and said simultaneously in surprise, "How could it be? It's impossible..."
I took a deep breath and passed the child to her with trembling hands. "Come here and take the child back."
Hearing what I said, the bodyguards let the family in. The woman took the baby, crying and laughing. "Yes, it's my baby! I'll never forget this birthmark, forever!"
As she spoke, she was dragging the child's little feet and fiddling with the evidence in front of everyone.
I had nothing to say. Even if I only saw my baby boy once, my feeling was correct.
As if worried that we would antagonize them, the woman's family rushed forward to protect her and the child in front of us. They broke through the line of bodyguards and went away.
"Arianna, is there any misunderstanding? The babies were born in Reid Manor. How could they be swapped? How can I explain this to Aaron when he comes back..." Seeing the child being taken away, Emma wanted to chase them, but had no right to.
