My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1755

Of course, this news would not have reached me if they did not plan to consider Sebastian's conditions. The Reid family only wanted me to live a longer life. For such a risk, they did not bother to think twice.

"Hendrix," I called out as I glanced at him and shook my head heavily, begging with my eyes. "No."

Hendrix was quiet and he pursed his lips tightly, a faint expression painted across his face. I could not tell if he could see my intentions just through my eyes. After a long pause, he turned to face Charles and responded, "I agree with Arianna. It is not a good thing to be subjected to others. Sebastian is greedy. Even if we hand over the agreement, we might not receive the antidote in return. I have contacted the world's most advanced medical team and invested a lot of money in the research for the antidote. I believe that there will be good news soon."

"Hmm?" I was a little confused and I cried out, "Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"I did," Hendrix replied, with a rejecting look. "I told you that you can believe in me, that I would never let you die."

I was taken aback by his stare. Indeed, even after learning that I was terminally ill, I had been constantly telling everyone not to worry. However, deep down, the fear of sudden death swallowed my heart. I was mentally preparing myself to die at any moment.

Not for any other reason, but because I knew Sebastian's ruthlessness.

Before I could speak up, Hendrix's tone intensified sternly as he asked, "Or is it that you're trying to be a martyr and refuse to be a burden to us? You want us to achieve 'peace' by dying in this manner which you call dignified?"

My heart sank, and I struggled to find any words to respond as my eyebrows furrowed. What he cared about was not whether I believed him. He thought I wanted to abandon him and seek death.

Hendrix's black pupils stared at me motionlessly; a deep abyss hidden beneath his eyes, ready to drown anything in it.

Aware that there was something troubling with the ambience, Aaron tried to smooth things over, adding, "Well, now that we have a solution, we don't need to worry much about Sebastian. It's almost time for dinner, let's go."

Hendrix threw him a cold look and said in a spiteful tone, "You still have an appetite after all that we've discussed? I don't think I can, I'll leave first."

Without even greeting Charles, he got up with a despondent face and trudged out of the room, not sparing a glance back.

It took a long time for the people in the room to come back to their senses.
