Just as Aaron was about to share his plan to take down Serene with me, my cell phone suddenly rang, so he had no to stop talking.
Picking up the phone, I saw that Raiya was calling me. I was a little confused at this. The last time I saw her, she had just given birth. She should have just finished recuperating by now. What business did she have with me?
Out of politeness, I answered her call, "Hello, Raiya. What's up?"
"Arianna, there's something I need your help with." Raiya's sounded a little hesitant and she seemed a little embarrassed.
"First you need to tell me everything. As long as you're not asking for too much, I won't refuse your request."
After all, she and Sawyer already see me as family. It would be rude of me to reject her right away.
"Could you help me get in touch with Sawyer? I haven't seen him for a whole week. I'm a little worried about him."
She seemed to be covering the phone deliberately, but I still heard a suppressed sob from the
receiver.
The last time I was in the hospital, I already had a bad feeling. Her reaction further confirmed my suspicions. I asked, "What happened? Tell me the truth."
There was a long silence on the other end. After a long pause, Raiya found her voice again, "It's nothing urgent, Arianna. It's just that Sawyer has been pushing himself too hard for the company lately, and I'm worried that he won't be able to take the pressure. So, if you meet him, please tell him that I'm fine now. I'll hang up now. That's all. I'll call you later. Goodbye."
"Rai —" Just as I was about to ask her for more details, I heard the dial tone. She had hung up on me.
I looked at my phone screen and saw that it had returned to the lock screen. The uneasiness in my heart grew. I frowned and called Sawyer.
