Even though I was just putting on airs, I did have a lot of sincerity in my words. If possible, the disappearance of the Marshall family might not be a bad thing.
Hendrix had a knot in his heart, so he kept himself shut in and treated his wounds while he lived. Even if he was blind, he still had relatives in the Milton family to take care of him. At the very least, we could ask for help from Nerissa, who was also from the same bloodline. She was also kind, and would certainly try to visit.
In short, Hendrix didn't need the Marshall family in his life.
Still, we had underestimated Jennifer. She was certainly not willing to listen. "You are really arrogant. I am afraid that you still don't know what the Marshall family is capable of. Do you really think you can keep the children as you please?"
I shrugged and said disapprovingly, "Of course. It's perfectly justifiable for a mother to be with her own children. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, perhaps that's not the case for the Marshall family. Unfortunately, even after traveling all around the world, we still couldn't find another family who does things the way you do."
Before Jennifer could react, I took the lead in talking to Baldrick, "You are a great philanthropist who has done many good things, but you still can't distinguish whether the company you keep are good or bad. In the future, you should keep your eyes peeled. Don't vouch for everyone, or you may end up damaging your reputation."
I had initially known Baldrick through his association with Sebastian, but was baffled to know that he was also acquainted with Nathan, especially since Baldrick had gotten his good reputation by doing many good deeds in his life.
Jennifer's face darkened as she listened. "You don't have to mock the Marshall family so much. If these words reach my father's ears, how much longer do you think you'll live?"
Hendrix was about to refute. However, he suddenly stood up, grabbed Jennifer's wrist and lifted her up in the air. "You were behind the poisoning?"
When everyone who had been waiting to see Jennifer make a fool of herself heard this, they instantly turned nervous and serious. Aaron's eyes were filled with murderous intent and his hands immediately clenched into fists; even Emma was terrified.
Hendrix's biological father was the culprit behind the toxin in my body?
Realizing that she had spilled the beans, Jennifer tried to get away from Hendrix. She struggled and said, "What are you talking about? What poison? I don't know!"
However, Hendrix had already lost it. His eyes seemed to be as black as ink, unfathomable and bloodthirsty. "I'll ask one more time. Did Nathan poison her?"
The furious voice reverberated through the hall. Even though I had seen Hendrix's many appearances, I was still shocked.
He had discarded him when he was young and made Hendrix's life so difficult. Years had passed since then and he had moved on to killing the people closest to him. Did Nathan and his wife regard their son as an enemy?
Jennifer was shocked by Hendrix that she panicked and choked on her saliva. Then, with a trembling voice, she confessed, "Yes, I... I heard it by accident outside Father's study, ah!"
"You b*tch-!"
Hendrix's rage heightened, and he raised his fist in fury.
However, his fist stayed above her head for a long while, never striking her. When everyone came back to their senses, his fist had already sunk into the sofa next to her.
