This made me confused. "Mr. Roberts, get this straight, no one here is pretending to be your ex-wife, I am who I am, Ariane."
I was feeling very angry and anxious. Without thinking much, I whipped out my identification card from my bag and held it up for him to see.
Although this seemed immature, it was the most direct and effective way that I could think of to prove myself to him.
I thought that an identification card would definitely turn this whole situation around, but Hendrix only craned his head and glanced at it. A meaningful smile appeared on his face.
I suddenly felt guilty from his reaction, and my hands were trembling.
As this was happening, Freya came over and bent down to look at the card in my hand. After realizing what it was, her face filled with embarrassment. She pulled on the hem of my shirt and pleaded with me, "Put it away."
"Why?" I responded. I didn't understand, and it even made me angry. "My face and identity card can't prove that I'm Hendrix's ex-wife, that I am Wynn's mother?"
"Mrs. Roberts's name is spelt differently," Evan explained.
As he said that, I suddenly felt discouraged as I gripped the card in my hand guiltily.
I remembered very clearly that when Irvin gave me this card, he told me, "Your name is spelt as Ariane, not Arianna."
Could this really just be a misunderstanding?
But was it really possible for two different people to look so similar in this world?
Seeing that I was completely lost in my own thoughts, Hendrix breathed a sigh of relief as he didn't intend to lose his temper. He added gravely, "The Golden Roof Restaurant is running well under your command, but I never expected this from you. I expect a detailed report on this matter. Next time, you'll be made aware of what the consequences will be."
