"That's true." Aaron nodded and sighed, "Now that he's lost his memories, these will probably be the greatest days of his life."
At the very mention of that, I realized that it wasn't a bad thing to live a life without any past memories.
But there were some things that just couldn't be ignored.
I changed the subject by saying, "I remember that six years ago, Nathan injected a virus into my body. Why do I still show no signs of being poisoned after six years?"
This was one of the reasons why I kept feigning amnesia.
I don't know how long I had to live, so I didn't dare return to the Reid family, and I didn't dare to come out to my children. I was happy to regain what I had lost, but the pain of losing everything again wasn't something I could bear.
Compared to the short happiness of being reunited, I was more afraid of bringing unbearable regret to my children and family. It was better for me to first pretend to be alone and then figure out all of the changes from the past six years.
When it came to that, Aaron instantly sat up straight and turned solemn, saying, "I haven't given up in all these years. At first, I didn't have a clue. But now that you're alive, everything can be connected. We couldn't understand at first. Since Nathan wanted to kill you, he could've directly injected you with a poison with no known antidote. The toxins would take effect at once, but he didn't. Instead, he chose a drug that countless people are researching. I suspect that his purpose isn't to make you disappear, but..."
"He wants to control me, right?" Aaron and I came to the same conclusion.
Nathan had forecasted Hendrix's strength and wanted to limit his potential by controlling me, which sounded reasonable.
But after so many years, Nathan had hypnotized Hendrix and turned him into his puppet. He could have removed me, the unstable factor. Why did he let me be?
"Yes." Aaron nodded before he continued, "I found it strange when Freya told me that you were together with Irvin. I sent someone to investigate his whereabouts six years ago, only to find that the place they found you wasn't where the accident occurred. Someone else who had saved you and then informed Irvin. To avoid the search efforts of the Reid, Moore and Marshall families, Irvin transferred you back to Ucrebury the night we arrived at Mesville. It was a very detailed plan."
