Jennifer looked at Hendrix, then at me. After thinking about this for a moment, she nodded thoughtfully. "After that banquet, I went home and thought about it. Hendrix, since you want to start over with Arianna, I should support you as your sister. You came here for temporary leave, right? That's not a problem. You can take a month off. I'll take over your position as president for the month. Once you've rested enough, I'll hand the position back to you. What do you think?"
Jennifer had appeared on the Forbes list, after all. This sounded reasonable, but in truth, it was just an excuse.
Hendrix smiled and didn't respond. He kept twiddling his thumbs, no one knew what he was planning.
He didn't seem interested in talking about this, so I had to brace myself to continue.
I chuckled and continued to poke at Jennifer's response. "Jennifer, you probably haven't been resting well lately, so you must have misheard. According to your brother, as of today, he will no longer be working for the company. After he's done sorting out his resignation, he will be emigrating overseas with me."
"What?" Jennifer stood up abruptly. Her beautiful eyes widened from surprise. She stared at me for a moment, then calmed down. She pretended to be calm and said, "I can't do that. Hendrix and Wynn are both members of the Marshall family..."
As she said this, she then yelled at the other employees in the office. "What are you all looking at? Get out of here!"
Jennifer was used to behaving arrogantly in the company, that's why everyone avoided her. In addition, having a President personally resign was practically unheard of. The staff were very afraid of getting in trouble. As soon as they heard her shouting, they ran away.
Suddenly, it was only me, Hendrix and Jennifer in the office.
A moment later, Jennifer calmed down. She slowly gripped the arm of the sofa and sat down once again. She forced out a smile and said, "What I meant was, my father won't agree to this. I can't solely make a decision here, but I don't believe you should resign. You'll have to do your best to persuade father yourself. Regardless, I will take care of the company for you."
