Jennifer wasn't convinced however. She couldn't tell whether Hendrix was telling her the truth or if he was lying, so she had no choice but to let him go. She turned towards her men and shouted, "What are you all waiting for? Quickly! Move those cars away!"
"Yes, Miss."
The bodyguards trotted away and moved their cars to the side of the road, leaving us with a very spacious roadway.
Evan stepped on the accelerator and drove past them.
After leaving Jennifer and the others far behind, Aaron then said, "Hendrix, you did a great job back there."
Hendrix's face was blank. It was hard to tell whether he was happy or worried.
Saying all of that to Jennifer wouldn't stop things from proceeding. When it came to business, the Marshall family would very likely force him to receive this treatment to restore his memories. Who knew what plans they had in mind for him.
It would be much more difficult to counter any plans they had in secret. We would have to take them down directly.
With this in mind, I patted Hendrix's hand.
Hendrix felt my hand and turned slowly to look at me. I smiled to comfort him, hinting at him not to be so worried and that our family would always have his back.
Hendrix nodded and held my hand. He looked relieved.
Aaron saw us from the rearview mirror and teased, "Aurelia, do you smell something strange?"
Aurelia heard him and started sniffing around, but she couldn't smell anything. She frowned and said, "No Uncle Aaron, I don't smell anything."
"You sure?" Aaron looked at Aurelia from the rearview mirror and spoke with a mischievous tone, "Try sniffing your daddy and mommy, can't you smell a weird odor coming from them? It's because they're in love!"
Aurelia was confused. She moved closer to us, but still couldn't smell anything, so she scratched her little head, confused.
