Aurelia didn't cause a scene afterwards. She sniffled and said, "Thank you, mommy. You're the best."
Her watery eyes could make anyone's heart go soft. Who could say no to that?
I smiled and asked Anne to take her younger brother and sister to wash up.
After spending the entire day outside, I felt tired, so I went to take a warm bath.
Half an hour later, when I entered the washroom, I saw Hendrix inside, along with Anne and Wynn. They were standing around him, muttering something. I had no idea what they were talking about.
Recalling how he had embarrassed me back at the mall, I frowned, "What are you doing here? We're going to sleep."
Considering the fact that he had secretly switched out our bed for a bigger one, I added, "Although the bed is bigger, Anne is back. It would be much too crowded for you to sleep here with us. If you are a good father, Hendrix, you'd go and sleep in the study!"
As soon as I said this, I found Aurelia's cute, puppy eyes staring right at me.
She was sitting on the edge of the bed, as though she had expected this. Tears had welled up in her eyes, and she looked like she was on the verge of crying.
Before Hendrix could say anything, I slapped myself and said, "Forget it. You can stay, but on one condition, you will sleep on the left, and I will sleep on the right. The children will sleep in the middle. Let's stay out of each other's business tonight."
Aurelia turned around and laid down in the middle of the bed. She pointed to her sides before stretching out her small hands to Anne and Wynn. "You guys, come on. It's time to sleep!"
Upon hearing this, Anne and Wynn got up from the sofa and walked towards the bed.
I figured that I would be safe tonight if the children all slept in the middle. Hendrix and I would be separated, which was perfect.
They did just that. They obediently took off their shoes and laid down beside Aurelia as though they were her guardians.
As soon as I laid down on the bed, Anne moved to the right.
Aurelia sensed it and immediately refused to let her move. She tried to pull Anne back, "Anne, sleep next to me! Please..."
