My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 2201

No matter how outstanding a man was, they would still have shortcomings, especially in matters that needed close and careful attention.

There was no point in holding this above him anymore. All that matters now is coming up with a way to make up for it. I waved my hand to show that we were over it. I then replied, "Whatever, we need to think about what we should do if Anne really does decide to leave with Josiah."

"That won't happen." Hendrix replied with confidence. He then started the car again and drove home.

"How are you so confident about this?" After everything that had happened a moment ago, I doubted Hendrix's ability to maintain our family's relationship.

He glanced at me from the rearview mirror before turning around. He then said jokingly, "Don't worry too much about that. I've already planned for everything. It's been taken care of."

The moment he said that, what I actually heard from him was, "Don't worry, leave this to me. You'd only mess it up if you did it yourself." As I stared at the back of his head the entire way home, I prayed to God that he wouldn't take on any more family duties.

It was right of me to be worried about this matter. Ever since that day, Anne never showed up again. To be precise, she never returned to the Roberts Mansion, but the club was operating in an orderly manner. I wasn't sure if she was intentionally keeping busy to distract herself from it.

I had agreed to give her time, so I wasn't going to break my promise. The only way I would know she was okay was through Evan's updates. I felt better when he said that she was fine.

On New Year's Eve, our house brimmed with lights. The lanterns that Aurelia and the others made were hung around the house. The warm light reflected on everyone's faces which made for a very warm atmosphere.

It would have been perfect if Anne was here.

When we were having our New Year's Eve dinner, Aurelia had noticed that Anne, who often left home early and would come home late, hadn't shown up in several days. Curious, she then asked, "Daddy, mommy, why isn't Anne home yet? I'm hungry!"

I didn't want to tell her that she might see Anne anymore for such occasions, so I changed the subject by saying, "Aurelia, do you see those meatballs on the table? Among the pile of meatballs, one of them has a coin in them. The person who gets that meatball, removes the coin and eats the meatball will have good luck for the whole of next year and will have their wishes granted."

"Really mommy? Will all of my wishes come true?!" Aurelia exclaimed excitedly while reaching out to grab her utensils. She was dancing from joy. With that, she opened her arms and protected the plate of meatballs greedily, "If that's the case, I'll eat all of them and none of you can't steal it from me!"

"Hahaha, don't come complaining when you can't finish the whole plate," I teased.

"That won't happen. Both Wyn and Neal will help me, right, Neal?" She pouted stubbornly, putting pressure on Neal.

Everyone then looked at Neal.

He still looked the same. Without answering her, he silently picked up a knife and fork and began to cut open the meatballs on his plate, one by one.
