After thinking for a while, I then added, "Hendrix, I'm not a princess in a fairy tale, and I don't expect to live like one. Don't forget, we're husband and wife. We've overcome several difficult periods together. We come and go as a set, what's mine is yours."
Hendrix was quiet again. I was sure that he had heard me and was just playing dumb.
If he didn't want to say something, then no one on earth could pry it out of him.
I had to think of another way to get through to him. "Never mind, Anne is calling me now. I won't keep you from your work. See you at home later."
"Bye."
Not long after he hung up, Hendrix's car disappeared at the next intersection.
I had originally planned to leave. But I later discovered that the chair Hendrix had sat on earlier was now occupied by someone else. With one glance, I could tell that the petite, tannedskinned man was Quinn.
He had been snubbed by Jordan in front of everyone last night. Seems he was attempting another shot at talking to him. He seemed to be able to shrug off temporary setbacks.
This time however, Jordan wasn't ignoring Quinn. The two of them talked for quite some time and then clinked their glasses together. They seemed to have reached some sort of agreement.
Having two separate enemies was troubling, but having two enemies who had formed an alliance was much worse.
They were like two giant spiders spinning a web, each of them waiting for Hendrix to fall into their traps.
The only thing in my mind was that I could just sit still and await my doom.
I had to investigate them and discover their secrets. Its not like I could just smash them open and see the secrets hidden in their hearts. But, based on the events that have happened and the things there were going to happen would hold clues to them.
