As he walked out of sight from the door, Freya then came back to her senses.

Before she sat down, she put her bag away and asked, "What's the matter? Why has Anne suddenly gone abroad? She hasn't been answering my calls or texts."

I was flustered. It took me a few seconds to compose myself. I then asked, "When did this happen? Why didn't she tell us?"

"You don't know?" Freya was very surprised and had a vague idea of what was going on. She then explained, "I asked the staff at the club and learned that she had travelled abroad three days ago. She didn't tell them anything else."

I sighed when I heard this. Perhaps the memories of the past were too much for her to bear. She went abroad to get some rest and take a break from all of this.

But it was much too dangerous for a girl to be abroad all by herself. I immediately told Hendrix to think up a solution. "Call Tobias and get him to send someone to Anne, okay?"

Hendrix didn't respond. He took out his phone and went to the balcony.

Freya probably sensed that something was wrong. After looking around, she asked, "What's wrong with him? He seems to be in a bad mood. Is it about Anne?"

Even she could see right through him. Hendrix wasn't able to hide his emotions as well as used to.

I shook my head, hoping that Freya would give some plausible suggestions. "Jordan brought an old friend from Ucrebury to our house two days ago. After that, Hendrix has been acting strange, as though someone had something on him. Do you think that's possible?"

"Hendrix? Someone has a hold on him?" Freya quickly waved her hand aside. "Impossible. With how intelligent he is, there's no way anyone would be able to oppose him so openly. That's highly unlikely."

She paused as she seemed to have thought of something. She leaned close to me and whispered, "Is it because you are not in sync with him?"
