"Are you guys alright?" I was a little surprised as I continued to explain, "I watched the stocks specialist on TV saying that the Stone family is in deep trouble and that the opponent is too strong and the Stone family will go bankrupt?
"How can you believe in their words? Apart from doing some research, they only know how to talk with no actions!" Aaron complained faintly for a while and then lowered his voice.
"Don't worry. Things have been settled. As for what you mentioned about the people trying to attack us nonstop, they were only doing it to catch our attention. Reid Group is strong, and we have the shares you gave me through the Roberts Group. We have both families to support the Stone family if they ever want to attack us again unless they use some political power against us. Otherwise, they would be walking to their ends on their own."
Indeed, Hendrix had mentioned that the Roberts Group was closely linked to the entire economic system and would not be easily affected. The Stone family would also be protected and under their control.
I breathed a sigh of relief but still didn't understand. "The stocks have always been supervised. Their attack would mean that they're trying to control the shares, and the police would take action on this. Since you said that they couldn't do anything to the Stone family anymore, why are they still doing this when there's no more advantage?"
Aaron burst into laughter, "Who says there's no advantage? Didn't Jordan already get what he wanted?"
I didn't understand and frowned, then reacted after thinking for awhile, "Are you saying that he did all this just to test me like before?"
"Obviously." Aaron said with certainty, "Remember. You need to stay strong. It's been so many years, and you are still the same worrywart as before."
Hearing him being so straightforward, I was so embarrassed that I didn't know what to say.
Luckily, Aaron didn't notice anything as he continued, "It doesn't matter. I invited Hendrix to the Golden Roof Restaurant tonight to negotiate, and I wanted to call you and ask if you wanted to join."
"Negotiation? About what?" I asked.
"The shares, of course. You might not remember, but you had almost the same amount of shares as Hendrix. After I took over, it affected him in his decision- making process. I'm guessing that Jordan urged him to do something, and he had no choice but to buy them back from me."
I pursed my lips and said carefully, "It's fine if we provoke or cause some trouble for them, but wouldn't it affect his plan if we go against him all the time?"
"I don't think so. We don't know what Jordan is thinking right now. It seems that he wants to continue this game. He wants to see how much you can sacrifice for Hendrix. Otherwise, he won't keep testing your limit of tolerance."
What Aaron meant was that Jordan did not believe that I could sacrifice everything for Hendrix. So even if the Stone family had a protective umbrella, he still used his power to show me that things were actually in deep trouble. Luckily, I chose to call Aaron to understand the situation instead of going to Hendrix or Jordan. If that happened, all our efforts would be in vain, and I would have revealed my weakness.
Jordan not only understood Hendrix, but also saw through my thoughts.
However, since I had passed the test, how could I miss such an interesting act? "What time?" I asked.
"Seven o'clock."
"I'll see you there."
