My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 332

Irvin patted me on the shoulder and said, "Say thanks to Mr. Reid for his affection."

I quickly parted my lips and said excitedly, "Thank you, Mr. Reid, for your affection. I'm lucky."

"Fate works in such mysterious ways. Charles has spent a lifetime looking forward to having a daughter. He finally found one who fit into the family so well after such a long time. We're a family now," Anthony said with a smile.

Looking at Charles, he said, "Who said anything about a goddaughter? She is a biological daughter because she is indeed from the Reid family!"

Charles laughed out loud. He immediately lifted his wine glass and looked at me. "Come with me!"

Charles took me to the stage of the hotel and announced loudly, "Ladies and gentlemen, first of all, I would like to thank Master Miller and Madam Miller for organizing this birthday dinner that brought this daughter to me, thereby fulfilling my lifelong wish. Today, at Madam Miller's birthday banquet, I announce that I will definitely host a banquet and invite all of you to celebrate my dear daughter joining my family."

As soon as he finished speaking, the guests under the stage were surprised for a moment before they started clapping their hands and congratulated him.

Charles was a man who liked to be honest and straightforward. As he wanted to take me in as his daughter, he brought me along to introduce me to other guests.

I then remembered that all the important and powerful people were at this banquet. Halfway through, Charles had something to discuss with his friends.

Now that I had some free time, I walked around, looking for Irvin. He happened to have finished his businesses, so he led me into the tea room.

He said, "Looks like this isn't a wasted trip after all?"

I smiled faintly and replied gratefully, "Yes, it's not a waste of time. But why did you ask me to think of Pedro as my godfather? Don't you know what Valerie has done? How can I recognize him as my godfather?"

He boiled the water and was ready to make tea. He looked at me and said, "Charles had wanted a daughter for many years, but he didn't want to remarry. Everyone in the elite families in Jarold City knows this. He noticed that you looked like Valerie, so I took the chance to ask Pedro and Valerie to take you in as a goddaughter. Of course, they wouldn't only want you to be their daughter, neither did you. Their refusal was inevitable. Charles spent his whole life being kind, and he had always wanted a daughter. So, everything just fell into place naturally."

I looked at him and sighed. "I thought it was just a matter of convenience. After listening to what you said, I actually feel that I am not as smart as I think I am."
