She was stunned for a moment and then left without saying anything.
My temper seemed to be getting worse and I've grown much more impatient.
After Minnie left, I sat in the hall and was in a daze for a while. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was already twelve midnight.
"Hendrix has been out so late. Is he planning to stay over at the Granger family home?"
After a short pause, I went into the kitchen and wanted to boil some water to drink. I took out my phone and looked at it. There was not a single message.
With a slight whistle, the water began to boil. I reached out to lift the kettle, and suddenly, I was scalded by water vapor.
I instinctively retracted my hand and stared blankly at the kettle. After a long pause, I took out my cell phone.
In a moment of hesitation, a noise came from the gate.
Was he home?
I pursed my lips, took the kettle to the living room, and poured two glasses of water.
It was probably raining outside. Hendrix entered the house with a chill trailing close behind, and his coat was wet.
He hung the coat by the door and saw that I was still in the living room. He frowned and asked, "Can't sleep?"
I nodded and looked at him calmly, "Uncle Granger, is he alright?"
He was stunned and frowned, "Did Irvin tell you?"
I shook my head and said calmly, "Uncle Granger had always been in poor health."
"Hmm," he said and walked towards me. "Are you worried that I won't come back?"
I shook my head and felt a little thirsty. I raised my hand to get the glass of water with an unsteady hand. I ended up spilling the water on my thigh.
I gnashed my teeth at the burning sensation on my skin from the hot water.
Hendrix took a few steps forward, picked me up, and went into the bathroom. He helped me wash it with cold water.
He frowned, "Did you drink?"
My mind went blank for a second, then I nodded.
