I looked up and paused. "Hendrix, is Doctor Saunders in Mesville?"
He nodded. "The company is expanding and Josiah is in charge of it. I've also been busy. What's the matter?"
"Can you ask him to do me a favor?" I really didn't feel at ease about Ian and Monique. For the past few months, I had not heard anything from Monique.
Everytime I called Ian, he would hang up the phone in a hurry. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the both of them or if they were happy.
"Well, there's a dinner gathering tonight. You can ask Josiah about it later." Hendrix paused and frowned, when saw that I wasn't moving when I had already prepared to leave. "What's wrong? Don't you feel like going anymore?"
I nodded. "Monique and Ian have gone to Mesville."
He nodded slightly. "Okay. I'll head out to do something and pick you up for dinner tonight!"
"No, it's fine, I'll drive there myself!"
"Do you realize that it has become a habit of yours to reject me?"
I froze. Looking at his gloomy face, I said faintly, "It's not what you think, I..."
"Well, drive safely tonight then!" Saying that, Hendrix left moodily.
Was he angry?
I put my hand on my forehead to rub it, feeling as if my head was getting dizzy.
It was seven o'clock in the evening when I arrived at the Imperial Restaurant. Everyone was already there when I entered the private dining room.
Apart from Hendrix and Josiah, there were two other people in the room. One of them was Calvin Hammer whom I saw the other day and Troy Lawson, the director of Alford Audit.
"It's been a long time since we last met, Mrs. Roberts!" Troy and I had met a few times for work, so we weren't very familiar with each other.
