"I don't know!"
"It's settled then." He got out of the car and pulled me into Granger Manor.
The Granger Manor was a huge place. The hall was covered in white, making it seem larger and more spacious.
There were not many people in Granger Manor, and now with the funeral taking place, it made the place seem a little cold. I followed him into the hall where he ordered the maids to prepare us a meal.
It didn't take long for Nerissa to return. She was carrying a pile of documents, most of which were the Granger family assets for allocation and distribution. Irvin glanced at them coldly and remained silent.
She took the initiative to hand the documents to Irvin and said, "The Grangers' real estate portfolio and cars are all yours. I only wish to be the chairman of the Granger Group."
"Ha!" Irvin sneered and looked at her. "The burial hasn't even happened and you've already begun distributing the assets? Aren't you afraid that he'll haunt you in the middle of the night?"
Nerissa's face was cold. She pursed her lips slightly and said, "This is what he had promised me. He gifted me 50% of his shares, making me the biggest shareholder. According to the law, I have the right to be the chairperson of the Granger Group."
Irvin raised his eyebrows and said, "Seems like you've planned to leave the Granger family before his funeral."
Nerissa replied coldly, "You don't need to speak so bitterly. You and your mother have shares in the Granger Group. I won't touch anything that is yours."
"I'll give all of them to you!" Irvin said with a sneer, "To tell you the truth, I have little interest in the Granger Group shares. You've been planning this for so many years, so just take my shares as a reward for your hard work."
"No need!" Nerissa replied, "I will take what belongs to me and I don't want what's not mine. However, please tell your mother not to come and kick up a fuss with me in the future. What happened that year has nothing to do with me. She's hated me for so many years, it's time she get over it."
"What do you mean it has nothing to do with you?" An agitated voice suddenly boomed from the door. It was Helen. Her eyes were red and swollen, and she looked at Nerissa with a wicked expression. "If you hadn't seduced Yohannes, would he have suddenly distanced himself from me? That's years of love down the train because of you. We had been together since we were young and I had travelled to every corner of the world with him."
When she walked into the Granger Manor, tears welled up in her eyes. "I've been by his side through all of Granger Group’s trials. He loved me. From the moment Irvin was born, to the time he went abroad, he had taken good care of me. I thought that we would be happy for the rest of our lives, but I didn't expect for you to come in the picture and become the cause of our divorce. Nerissa, you did this. If you didn't pretend to look pitiful all the time, then he wouldn't have taken pity on you and started taking care of you, and all this wouldn't have happened. Nerissa, you're a socialite from a rich family. Why did you seduce him, a married man?"
When Helen spoke, she looked like she wanted to tear Nerissa to pieces. She asked, "What did you like him for? He didn't even let you give birth to a child. You were willing to strip yourself of your dignity all for the sake of the Granger Group's shares. What do you want exactly? Are you trying to play a rotten game? Are you acting like this because of the deep-rotted rottenness in your bones?"
Helen ranted on.
