She shook her head and said, "No, it was Valerie. She and Josiah had been in cahoots. All 200 hospitals in the country are in trouble, including the international hospitals managed by the Roberts Group. They are probably trying to bring the Roberts Group to its knees."
This again caught me by surprise. I only knew that Hendrix had been incredibly busy recently, but he never told me why, so I didn't know much.
From what Kelsey was saying, things sounded pretty serious.
"Is there any proof?" Valerie had been investigated recently, so how could she have time to deal with the Roberts Group?
Was she deliberately using this opportunity to divert everyone's attention?
Kelsey shook her head and said, "I didn't realize this until recently, but before Mr. Roberts planned to develop Jarold City, I learned from Calvin that Valerie and Josiah had been seeing each other a lot, I just didn't know what they were going to do at that time. But I'm pretty sure now that it's about the hospitals. Hundreds of hospitals had issued fake medical fees, and even incurred high expenses. There was even a case in Jarold City where fees were still charged to a septuagenarian and his family despite the fact that he had already been dead for a few months. I mean, cases like this have always been around, where hospitals would charge extra medical fees for no good reason whether it's for medical tests or treatments. However, things are more critical this time round."
After a pause, she said, "The treatment charges for the old man after his death in the hospital had reached a million dollars, so the children filed a report."
I frowned. "The hospital was still collecting medical fees for months even after his death? What have the doctors been doing?"
She shook her head. "I don't know. It's plain to see that these fees are unreasonable, and there are too many of these same cases mushrooming up in the hospitals run by the Roberts Group. So, dealing with this will definitely be no walk in the park. Plus, the situation is getting worse; it's possible that Hendrix will be sent to prison."
That was impossible. Hendrix won't do such a thing!
"All medical treatments have always been managed by Josiah. Hendrix trusted him, so he never asked about it. Since he has been trying to penetrate the foreign market, the medical research was handed over to him. But how could this be?"
