For a moment, my heart skipped a beat. I apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it."
"It's windy outside, you'll get sick if you stay here for too long." Irvin's handsome face looked indifferent, and there was no emotion on it. His straight figure seemed to be blurred in the snow.
As he spoke, he put the big cotton- padded jacket on his arm around me and said, "Let's go back inside. It's cold!"
I was shocked for a moment before nodding my head. Then, I turned around and prepared to go back.
However, he suddenly pulled me into his arms and \asked in a low and restrained voice, "Have you... reconciled with Hendrix?"
After a moment's pause, I nodded. I pondered for a moment before I said, "Irvin, you're a good man. You'll find your happiness."
He looked at me silently for a long while. "How do you know that? Arianna, do you know what happens to a person when they're exposed to the light after being in the darkness for too long?"
I pursed my lips and looked at him. Then, he continued, "If a person has never felt the warmth of the sun, they wouldn't think the darkness unbearable. The feeling of seeing the sun shine the way it does after being in the dark for so long is something you'll probably never understand."
The feeling of helplessness radiating from him was so strong that I couldn't breathe, but I couldn't say anything.
As I looked at him, I opened my mouth a little, but in the end, I couldn't say a word.
He firmly interlocked his fingers with mine before he pulled me into his arms and pressed me into his chest. After that, he patted me on the back. "Whatever. If Hendrix cherishes you, then you will be happy for the rest of your life. If he does you wrong..."
"I won't do her wrong!" A man's deep voice came from behind. It was Hendrix.
I loosened myself from Irvin's embrace and looked back at Hendrix, who was carrying a coat in his hand. Hendrix walked up to me, took off the cotton coat I was wearing and handed it to Irvin. Then, he put the coat in his hand around me and said, "Thank you for your clothes, Mr. Granger."
