Before she could finish speaking, I heard a deafening sound. I hesitated for a few seconds before looking in the direction the driver had driven from earlier.
A tanker had crashed squarely into the Granger family's black Bentley. The car was deformed, and it was unlikely that anyone in the car had survived.
Then, Nerissa's legs went limp as she collapsed to the ground. Her pupils constricted in fear as she stuttered, "He wants to kill me! He really wants to kill me!"
My breathing all but stopped for a moment before I reached out to grab hold of her. She looked at me incredulously and said, "Arianna, Irvin's out of his mind. He wants to kill me! He wants me dead!"
For a moment, I felt that what she said was a bit strange, so I said, "Get up first, it was just an accident."
"No!" She kept shaking her head. "This is not an accident. It's not an accident. He planned this. This was his plan all along."
I couldn't help but frown and helped her sit on a chair nearby. I sighed and said, "Aunt Nerissa, wait here for me. I'll get you a glass of water."
It was obvious that she was frightened, which was why she was being delusional.
She grabbed hold of me instantly and shook her head vigorously, saying, "Arianna, you can't leave. Irvin wants to kill me, you have to stay with me!"
Feeling baffled, I frowned and said, "If Irvin really wanted you dead, he has a hundred ways to make that happen. There's no reason for him to do something like this, so what happened just now was an accident. You're overthinking. I'll get you a glass of water."
After I let go of her hand, I went to the supermarket feeling upset. Irvin was indeed more depressed these days, but it didn't mean that he hated Nerissa and wanted to kill her.
I bought some water and was about to go back when I saw a black Maybach rushing in the direction of where Nerissa was sitting.
Everything happened so fast that I didn't have time to respond. Out of nowhere, Hendrix rushed out to shield Nerissa.
I stopped breathing for a moment before I dropped the water and ran in Hendrix's direction. I instinctively stood in his way.
