I sneered and said, mindlessly, "Crossed the line? I thought that I hadn't done quite enough, seeing that she still has a chance to be saved."
He became so infuriated that he was at a loss for words. After a pause, he retorted, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Do you really take Pedro for a pushover? She's the daughter that he's been looking for over 20 years. If something bad happens to her, do you think that anyone would be able to protect you?"
I said fearlessly, "If Andrea really dies, I'll pay for it with my life if that's what it takes. Isn't it one hell of a bargain, for someone without attachments like me to die and drag her down with me?"
Disappointed to the core, he glared at me. "Without attachments? Arianna, you're heartless. What do you consider the people around you to be?"
I sat on the chair slightly irritated and ignored his accusation.
Seeing that I refused to change my mind, he held his forehead and felt extremely helpless. He called for a doctor to check if I was hurt.
When the doctor saw that there was blood on my hand, he checked it and found that there was no wound. Then, he left.
Hendrix looked at me helplessly and asked, "Why did you stab her?"
I...
Why?
Now that I had calmed down, I felt that my impulse had gotten the better of me just now. No matter how harsh her words were, they were just...words.
After mulling over it, I looked up at him and replied, "She said that our child died because you purposely gave me deformity- inducing drugs, and that you didn't intend to have this child in the first place."
At the time, perhaps it was because of this exact revelation that I lost it, or perhaps it was because of how she had cursed me.
He frowned. "So, you believed it?"
I nodded, looking right into his eyes. "You had every reason to do that!"
His eyes were cold, frigid even. "So, since you believed it, why don't you stab me with a knife? Yet, you hurt her instead?"
"You weren't there back then. She was!" I said, staring blankly at him. I wasn't scared of his indifference.
Hehe!
He sneered and let go of my hand, looking at me with disappointment in his eyes. "Arianna, have you ever trusted me? No, to be exact, have you ever loved me?"
