I was speechless.
I really couldn't figure out what went on in this man's head. For a moment, I didn't know what to respond.
I simply didn't say anything.
The New Year was approaching. Hendrix had initially planned to take me back to Ucrebury after the company's annual meeting, but since he was injured, so he couldn't move around freely anymore.
Josiah and Austin were in charge of getting the company's annual meeting together. There was nothing for me to do as I had already left the Roberts Group.
I didn't ask much about what happened to the Roberts Group. On the contrary, Aaron was the one who sent me a message informing me that Charles had set the time for me to enter the family registry.
I was given some time to prepare so that I could return to the Reid family in advance. I would be staying for two days to get myself familiarized with the environment. Charles had made sure that the event would be as grand as it could, and had even invited plenty of people.
I knew Charles was doing this for my sake, so I told him what happened to Andrea after responding to Aaron.
He was stunned for a moment. He asked, "How are Andrea and the Moore family doing?"
I shook my head. "Andrea demanded to get even with me; she wanted an eye for an eye. So, Hendrix was injured because of this. But for some reason, Valerie and Pedro's attitude took a turn and they didn't push to see this matter through. I also felt that this was a little strange."
He paused for a while and questioned, "Why did they let this go all of a sudden?"
"Maybe they just didn't want to make a scene! After all, Andrea was the one who ran to our house to cause trouble. If she were to make a big fuss of this, it would definitely be a little shameful if news got out that the Moore family's precious daughter turned out to be someone's mistress, who even stirred up a commotion in someone else's house."
So far, this was the only reason or rationale for their change in attitude that I could think of.
He answered with a hum and added, "Don't get yourself involved with the Moore family in the future. Stay as far away from them as possible. By the way, I've hired a fashion designer for you. Let's meet them when you have the time, and let them design a few formfitting dresses for you. For the coming few years, there will be more annual meetings and banquets to attend. Since you're the Reid family's daughter, you can't bring us shame when you attend these events in the future."
My mouth twitched and I felt a little distressed as this sounded like quite the hefty expense. "A dress would cost hundreds and thousands of dollars, and some of them even cost over a million. It's not worth the money at all. It's even more of a waste since I won't be wearing them often!"
