My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 485

My head was buzzing, and I didn't understand why she brought me here. I asked, "Are we visiting your friend or relative? After we pay our respects here, where are we going later?"

She walked in front of me and whispered quietly, "I'll probably go see Mr. Clark and the others later, but they'll probably come here today too."

"What are we doing here?" She led me around for a while before stopping in front of a tombstone in the back row.

I was in a daze, and I couldn't help but look at the tombstone. Suddenly, I felt the wind get knocked out of me, and an earthquake started in my mind as the chrysanthemums in my hand fell to the ground.

I looked at the black and white picture on the tombstone and the words on the epitaph in disbelief.

I turned to Kelsey, trying hard to suppress the pain and shock in my heart. I murmured, my voice trembling as I spoke, "Is this a prank?"

She pursed her lips and answered, almost heartlessly, "Do you think this is a prank?"

I looked at the tombstone again and looked at the monochrome picture on it. That was the person I was most familiar with, the person closest to me!

My gaze fell on the burial date - the 28th of September. That was when that incident had happened to me, but how could she...

I shook my head, unwilling to accept the truth. I looked at Kelsey, anger seeping out of me. "I don't understand why you had to tell me like this, but I don't think I've done anything to you that I should be sorry for. Don't you think you've gone too far?"

She frowned and answered calmly, "Monique died due to postnatal complications, and I only found out recently. The night that happened to you, she was taken to Jarold City. She was knocked unconscious and left in Sawyer's house in order to lure you out of the villa for you to be kidnapped. That's why Monique knew it was because of her that you were under so much emotional stress after the miscarriage. She ended up giving birth prematurely at seven months, and bled a lot after the birth..."

I fell to the ground and looked up at the picture on the tombstone. My eyes hurt so much, and my heart felt like it was target practice for daggerstabbing. With each passing moment, the stabbing pain grew more so intense.

That was why Ian had been hiding from me, and that was why he kept staying in Ucrebury. He just didn't want to see me. Thus, this meant that I was careless for thinking that Monique had just fallen sick after the birth, and had gone to Mesville.
